A Wild Ride
(about us)
It’s been a wild ride for nearly 30 years since I started Robin Roy Films (RRF). Back then, as an independent non-fiction filmmaker, I just wanted to follow interesting stories to exotic places. I’m incredibly lucky this wish came true — and even luckier that, along the way, RRF grew into one of India’s most internationally and nationally awarded factual entertainment production houses.
Â
I’ve been privileged to make films that have won five awards in Singapore (Asian Television & Asian Academy), along with more than eighteen in India from juries including the Indian Television Academy and Indian Telly Awards. I’m particularly proud that many of these projects were made for three of the biggest names in factual entertainment: Discovery, National Geographic and History.
Â
The films have taken us to extraordinary locations — from the summit of Mount Everest to desert wastelands and deep jungles, from natural disaster sites to ultra-luxe destinations. We’ve quite literally been there, done that.

Just as memorable are the individuals I’ve had the privilege of directing, like screen legends Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman. I’ve also had the honour of working with the President and being commended by the Prime Minister of India for two different projects.

But the greatest privilege has been to interact with people from the remotest corners of India, leaving indelible audio-video impressions: The haunting song of a camel herder beneath a moonlit sky in the Rann of Kutch; a Kedarnath survivor’s account of the night he lost his children to the deluge; shafts of light illuminating praying monks in Hemis, Ladakh.

That’s what still drives us: the thrill of discovering a new story, the privilege of meeting remarkable people and, yes, the adventure of going wherever the wild ride takes us.
